Modern life is complicated. While I am blessed with an abundance of products and services, it is next to impossible to know what to do in my exact moment of need. Rather than enjoying abundance, I have to administer it. I am excited by the potential of AI to better meet my needs in my own personal context, so I can focus on living not managing.
Two projects focused on using AI to provide in context instruction to the parents and providers of children with special needs:
rascal
rascal is a proof of concept showing the utility of a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) chain in providing in-context answers based on the user need. The proof of concept serves parents who have recently learned that their newborn has a genetic disorder. It helps answer questions about the disorder and support the acquisition and use of early intervention (EI) services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Auditory Skills
Auditory skills is an AI powered diagnostic tool that assesses a child’s auditory skills and recommends resources and therapies that can bring them to the next stage. The primary user base of this tool is intended to be the parents of a child with hearing loss however it is the hope of the creators of this tool that speech and language pathologists (SLPs) and other early intervention and pediatric practitioners can find uses for it.
